The Virtue Of Doing Nothing
-
On the path of personal spiritual enlightenment, sometimes it’s best to do nothing. And I’m not talking about meditating or sitting with the moment, as that could be construed as doing something in a sense.
What I’m saying is that sometimes it’s good to step back from all the reflecting, meditating, focusing, energy channeling, and so forth and just let it go…
Sometimes we need to stop trying and just allow ourselves to be whatever and whoever we are. And this shouldn’t be approached as another exercise, or else you’ll be doing something again!
When I feel burned out or stretched, or like I’m trying too hard to push my life rather than allowing it to unfold, I realize I’m treating my spirituality like a gym membership. And at these times I try to just walk away and let it roll.
I enjoy many different practices to focus my consciousness, balance my energy, and help me better experience source. But these things are just tools to be used in balance; trying to live 100% of the time under such pretense is what leads to things like organized religion.
So for readers who are new to the path of spirit, allow me to be the first to remind you:
It’s not all about reading new books and learning new practices. Sometimes just being you and letting whatever that is ride it out is exactly what is needed.
This content is somewhat abstract; it’s difficult to define the point of non-action without making it sound like just another routine or meditation. So feel into the words and allow your heart to translate, and allow yourself to just be as often as you need to.

Everything is happening by itself in the moment. The thought of doership comes after the event has happened.
Let’s take the so called outer world– earth is rotating by itself, sun is giving energy/ light by itself, wind is flowing by itself, birds are flying by themselves– everything is just happening. Let’s take inner world — our bodies—heart is beating by itslf, blood is circulation– by itself, bones are growing, hair and nail grow, food gets digested, etc all by themselves without our so called “I” doing anything. Similarly, EVEN thoughts are arising by themselves– but here comes the problem,, there is a fictitious I to claim credit for the thoughts which are just arising by themselves. There starts the problem. The problem is for the fictitious “I ” only. This imaginary “I” is also a thought or collection of thoughts. But it “Thinks” it is doing everything. In fact, nothing is being done by this “I”. Because now even scientifically also it has been proven that a thought or decision comes to attention after 0.3 second of it’s having formed. So the decision has already been made 0.3 seconds before it comes to our attention.
So let it be understood that there is no “I” doing anything and enjoy the show.

“The thought of doership comes after the event has happened”
You are right of course. Our conscious identities are very much just along for the ride.
The higher self, heart of hearts, non-conscious mind, spirit, or whatever we may call it is the seat of creation from human perspective. I believe we can train our thinking to influence this greater self, hence playing a role in future manifestations, but the fact is our ego mind is not, never has been, and never will be in the driver seat.
Great comment. Please keep sharing.
