Embracing Silence

One thing most belief systems have in common is the value placed on silence and meditation. Only when we go to that place of still, silent being can we really see ourselves and the world around us with clarity.

Simple meditation can reduce stress, improve focus, increase happiness, and lead to amazing discoveries of personal peace and power. Anyone can learn to meditate, and the practice is quite safe.

People tend to make the process of meditation more complex than needed. In essence, to meditate is to sit still, be comfortable, and do nothing.

Most of the time we are intentionally adding to our day. We force thoughts, we monitor and guide our feelings, and we generally drive and direct ourselves to be how we think we need to be.

Through meditation we let go and allow our mind to flow where it will. We let our feelings do what they want. We don’t push, we simply allow and watch.

It’s an amazing experience that will lead to a fully renewed life if you practice seriously. And by seriously I don’t mean in a stern and boring fashion – by all means meditation should be a fun process of discovery and release!

In some ways it’s about being still and silent and letting your true self emerge. But at the same time there should be no expectation or forcing. Truthfully the nature and benefits of meditation cannot be captured in words.

And many times when people begin to meditate they think to themselves: “Am I doing this right?”

But with just a little consistent practice real results spring forth. Greater joy, inner peace, and a deep sense of just knowing are common benefits of meditation.

If I had to choose just one thing that would make the world a better place and improve an individual’s life exponentially at the same time, this one thing would be “learn to meditate and practice daily”.
