Be In This World But Not Of It
-
Each of us has our own spiritual truth. This truth may sometimes align with the views of others, and it may be highly unique and personal.
Our spiritual truth is what keeps us anchored in the manufactured chaos of the modern world. While media companies do their best to convince us all of life is gloom and doom, and while politicians outline the most hideous of problems that we should all live in fear of, it is our personal spiritual truth that allows us to filter out the garbage and connect to joy and purpose.
LIFE IS A WONDERFUL GIFT AND EACH DAY IS FILLED WITH MIRACLES!
This is one premise of my spiritual truth. As you can see this is definitely not synchronized with mainstream thinking.
So how do I walk the truth of my spirit path each day in a world that actively seeks to dissuade me? More importantly how can YOU live the truth of your spirituality without allowing the world to jade and corrupt you?
The answer is simple: We must strive to be in this world but never of it!
In other words we can live each day as part of this physical earth-plan, taking what we want, adding our own vision and love, but never allowing ourselves to be fully anchored or obligated in the ways or limits of this place.
Many ancient spiritual practices discuss this. While I am not a fan of any organized religion, I do believe some early practitioners have infiltrated the faith and left messages of profound worth for later generations.
In the New Testament Jesus is depicted telling his disciples to choose God over the world.
Many Hindu statues depict deities with one foot on the ground and one foot in the air, i.e. they illustrate the value of being in the world but not of it.
This is a deeply profound thing. And it’s entirely different from fantasy escapism.
Living in the moment and being mindful of events around us is important. But this doesn’t mean watch the mainstream news and stop to gawk at auto accidents. I’m referring to an awareness of body, mind, emotion, activity, and personal interaction within our own lives.
Be fully with the moment-to-moment experience of living and observing. But do so from the place of your spiritual truth.
Sometimes we have experiences that feel like defeat and loss. These are important times for learning (topic for another article) but we need not become fully immersed in the limitation of the experience as it relates to this world, this ego self, and so forth.
What I’m really saying here is simple: Find and stay near your spiritual truth at all times, even above and beyond what your five senses might tell you. Look for the DEEPER TRUTH in all things.
Allow your thinking to be free of distress and obligation as much as possible. Just live and allow spirit (or whatever you may call it) to express freely through your thoughts, words, feelings, and actions.
Everything else is secondary.
Even when you fail miserably to live up to your own ideals understand the concept of “failing” is really just in your ego. It’s all part of the discovery process and if you continue to walk your spirit truth, not rigidly in accordance with the rules of man but by way of inspired thought and action, all will be more than well.
People, events, and circumstances are a gift from our consciousness. They are not the truest definition of what is real, hence we can be with them but not anchored to the collective manifestation of “this world”.
I hope I’m connecting with these words.
We are all of divine origin. Before being conceived in the womb we were part of the field of energy that has always been and will always be, and we will never truly die; we’ll simply move out of this form and back into the field of energy.
I won’t even pretend to know what happens next. But you are free to fill that in from your own intuition and make it part of your spiritual truth. ;o)
My point in all of this is to encourage you to honor yourself, and honor your own spiritual journey through this life and whatever may come hereafter.

My spiritual personal thrut says two things:
“I?m protected and guided by divine power”
“All that happens to me is for my best growth”
I try (not ever is easy) to accept all in my life as the best for me and my family. Since I walk through this way, things go better and better.
To be focussed in our divine origen and look for the connection with the SOURCE is the most important thing that I can do for myself and others
The best for you

Being able to see life through the eyes of your spiritual guide is wonderful and the most ecstatic experience you will ever have – if you find Him’Her.
But once you go through a disastrous personal experience it can either strenghthen your relationship with your guide – or you may in fact find Him/Her because of this event – or you can lose the guide’s presence, as you allow too much of the world to come in and you just see life as being “nasty, brutish and short,” as Thomas Hobbes once described it.

Love to read your articles thank you.The easiest way I have found to be true to whom I am,is to be truely grateful for all I have.It helps me stay true to what I know is my truth,to be grateful gives you that warm feeling inside, and helps you feel secure in what ever you choose to do,and others see you so confedent that they ask what you are doing to make things happen for you.As you are always in the moment ,

I believe that balancing between “living” in this world and all its realities and staying connected to a more spiritual path of learning takes: 1.awareness of the 2 worlds and how they meet, 2. patience to work through both the human and spiritual experiences that we have in this lifetime, and 3. the willingness to persevere through life’s challenges, trusting that there is a higher purpose/lesson to be learned.
Your points are well stated and hopefully more and more people will act in accordance… including media and gov’t… We can’t convince anyone of the “right” way, we just have to live “the change we want to see” (Gandhi). All the best, Loren

Letting go of the world is like everything in life – just a matter of choice. A decision made and executed each day with permission and guidance from Yahweh gets easier as time passes by from a simple thing called practice.
I practice this everyday and no matter what is happening, I have allowed Yahweh to take over every aspect of my being and I live happier now than I’ve ever been. Nothing gets done without firstly his involvement, intervention and action. I feel so much calm and peacefulness that I always recommend to my friends that once they truly let go of the world and let our heavenly father overtake their lives and living, they will be totally at peace. This has been my experience and it works.

Gratitude, I believe, is the key.
The more grateful you are for what you have the more irrelevant the, perceived, things you don’t have become ( which is what, after all, usually only what others expect you to have ).
Your right, Life IS a wonderful gift, and each day is filled with miracles!!
